Three generations, my niece, big sister and Mom
Inspired by the Royal Wedding and back from London with a boatload of tea, yesterday we hosted a pre-mother’s day tea and luncheon for our family and friends. We had a beautiful day here in NYC and the party planners insisted that we move everything outdoors. What a bevy of beautiful ladies in hats!
So why the hats? Well, a woman will buy a dress or shoes for herself without much prodding. She may even splurge on a special item for a child, boyfriend or husband. For a woman to buy a hat for herself requires some planning, forethought and commitment to be kind to herself. For me, it always seems so much easier to be kind and supportive of others than to be kind to myself. Take some time to be good to yourself.

Nicole – I cannot begin to tell you how much fun we had. @SelfishMom looked fantastic. I got my hat in Paris while on vacation. One guest told me she is going to try to host a tea at her church. There was so much joy… I might be making this an annual event.
