Summer is almost upon us and perhaps you’ve landed a cool invite to the Outer Banks, Martha’s Vineyard or the Hamptons. Remember to pack the sunscreen, a good attitude and your host or hostess gift.
Here are my picks for summer 2012.
- Château St. Roseline Cuvee Lampe de Meduse Rosé ($25) – a light fruity wine from Provence, France that is great with summer salads and grilled meat dishes. I’m digging the sexy bottle too! To find a distributor in your area click here.
- Tea It Up – ($60) Dara Furlow – a mom, chef, and passionate foodie created “With Love From Brooklyn” to showcase Brooklyn food artisans and artists. Your hostess will swoon over this gift set with Brewlyn Grind Organic Earl Grey Tea, Sweet Deliverance Blackberry Rose Geranium Jam, Whimsy & Spice Honey Lavender Shortbread and the lovely Claudia Pearson Houses All in a Row Tea Towel.
- Libbey Stemless Wine Glasses – ($10.79) – These glasses are sturdy and oh so pretty. A set of four available online or at your local Target store. These are great to use for wine, water, juice or cocktails. They are so inexpensive that you could bring a set or two or three without breaking the budget. ($60)
- Everyone loves a picnic but who wants to take food to the beach in a plastic grocery store bag? Not me and not your hostess either. I’m crossing my fingers to get this Collapsible Picnic Basket From Crate & Barrel ($35) this year. I love the zipper top – no more sand in my sandwiches.
- Your BFF is gorgeous, generous and she has a beach house. Why not an “arm party” gift for your hostess? The Stella & Dot Carrie Bangles ($59) in a branch design in coral, turquoise and white will complement any summer wardrobe.
6. Slom Clear Bottle ($4) from IKEA – I love these bottles for entertaining. I filled these with distilled water and placed two on each table for my Mother’s Day Tea. I also use these bottles to store batches of homemade simple syrup that I use to make summer cocktails.
These are my favorite picks for hostess gifts 2012. Please share your favorite hostess gift in the comments section below. Happy Summer!

The insulated picnic basket from Crate & Barrel is for me! Not much beach to speak of here in New Mex, but plenty of gorgeous sand for a picnic at White Sands National Monument (between Alamogordo and Las Cruces, NM.)
Melodie- I just got the Crate & Barrel picnic basket from one of my blog readers. It is too cute. No more frumpy plastic grocery store bags for me!
