Every summer I promise myself I’m going to make it to the Hampton Designer Showhouse. This annual event is presented by Traditional Home to benefit Southampton Hospital. This year, the showhouse was at an estate in Water Mill. Imagine 8600+ square foot of luxury, decorated by 25 top interior designers. The kicker – each designer decorates a room without any idea of the style of adjoining rooms. It is sheer house porn and my photos don’t do it justice.
But here’s the good news – you can see the showhouse every day until September 3rd. Admission is $30 and includes a copy of the home journal. The showcase is open from 11 am – 5 pm, Monday – Sunday. There is free parking at the site but no children under six, infants, strollers or pets allowed.
My favorite rooms – the turquoise inspired fun and funky beach house dining room (designed by Mabley Handler Interior Design) and the easy to miss media room on the lower level (I had to pry Big P out of the media room chair).
If you’re feeling a bit green with envy after touring the showhouse – cool off by heading to the beach and soaking up some sun. Have a great Labor Day and let me know what fun things you are planning for the weekend.
Wish I was there! My favorite is the pool and gazebo. Thanks for sharing. Cynthia
Hey Cynthia – you can be there. The showhouse is an annual event that benefits Southampton Hospital. It usually starts mid-July and ends right after Labor Day. Next year the showhouse is going to be in Bridgehampton. I think it makes for a great day trip on the East End. Do the showhouse, then lunch, the beach and take in a vineyard or do some shopping. Thanks for your comment.
