The Passport Party Project landed in NYC two weeks ago. The Passport Party Project – is the brainchild of Tracey Friley aka @OneBrownGirl. The Parties have been held in cities all over the US and not only exposes girls to the wonders of travel but also helps them get their first passport. The young girls selected to participate are students from the Prep for Prep Program – a leadership program for students of color. The party was held at MoCADA in historic Fort Greene, Brooklyn and I had the opportunity to not only meet Tracey – the travel dynamo behind the Passport Party Project – but to also connect with other brown girl travelistas – Tracey aka @Bktraveladdict, Teri aka @TravelistaTeri, Terri aka @TryItFoodTravel.

During the party, the girls (and the travel bloggers) had the opportunity to create their own travel vision boards, discuss past travel adventures and their plans for future journeys. There was time for some spirited competition with prizes for the best travel vision boards, a cupcake eating contest, travel dress up and Tracey even took passport photos for the girls. I cannot begin to tell you how much LOVE and effort was put forth to make this a great experience for these girls.
I had a great time sharing my love for travel with these dynamic young girls. How’s that for paying it forward?
This sounds like a fabulous program. I am so glad to have found this blog. Now, I can travel through your adventures. Many blessings! ~Cynthia
Hey Cynthia – It is amazing. I take no credit for this venture. Tracey Friley of OneBrownGirl.com is AMAZING. She has lined up corporate sponsors (i.e. Expedia, eBags etc..) to make this happen. I was touched to meet these young brilliant girls and equally touched to meet their parents who were very appreciative of the opportunity provided by the Passport Party Project. But don’t just travel via my adventures – make it a priority for yourself. Think globally and be blessed.
Great recap! Thanks so much for being a part of this day, Ann (and helping out BIG TIME with the supplies). You know I couldn’t have done it without you! *Cheers* to being a part of giving girls a world view!
The girls were fantastic. Thanks for allowing me to be a very small part of The Passport Party Project.
