Every year, I get some heat from friends who think its not “politically correct” to let my kids think a big fat white guy is bringing them presents. Big P does not believe in the “pagan” Christmas celebration either. Can a girl love Jesus and still love Santa? I say emphatically “Yes she can!”
We will be attending church service today. Commercialism and Santa aside, I do want our kids to understand we are celebrating the birth of Jesus. I do get one gift every year for the kids that they know is from Mommy and not from Santa. This Christmas I am surprising my family with a winter getaway to Mexico. I know you’re thinking “uh what a great gift – vacationing with drug lords!” (In New York City – that’s our version of a staycation.) Check your geography peeps. First of all most of the drug related crime is along the US – Mexico border (near Tijuana). We are heading much further south to Cabo San Lucas (Cabo). Cabo and surrounding areas are very safe and located about 900 miles south of San Diego. This resort destination was beloved by Hollywood celebs in the 1950s. Tourism was spurred with the development of a two lane highway from Tijuana in 1974. Cabo is known for its great weather, shopping, food, water sports and is family friendly. Goodbye, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and hello sun!
Big P and the kiddies will be staying in a 2 bedroom villa at the Cabo Azul Resort.
