9 Bedroom House in Saint-Romain

La Sauzade is a beautiful country house, built in the 18th century, within walking distance of the historic village Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. The house is intended to be my home rather than just a holiday let and every detail has been chosen with that approach in mind.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Most of the bedrooms look over the front lawn and swimming pool.
The ground floor consists of a large kitchen with substantial (2 m diameter) table, sitting room or family room, entrance hall, dining room, library. Behind the dining room and library is a down stairs bedroom with dressing room, stone fireplace, and its own bathroom. (Bedrooms are described below).
The house is furnished with antique furniture, as well as a wide screen Sony TV, separate TV, two play stations, DVD player, DVD collection, table tennis, etc.
As of summer of 2021, I am taking bookings for weeks in 2022 (largely booked up) and 2023 (largely available).
Changeover during the season is on a Friday. Please read my terms before booking and do not hesitate to contact me first.

Summary: We were a family of 10 adults and five children under 6, and had waited two years to come here, but it was definitely worth the wait. Tracy, the house manager, who greeted us at the property, was extremely helpful, and any minor queries or requests were dealt with efficiently and effectively. This handsome Maison Ancienne, full of French character with its thick stone walls and large high ceilinged rooms, afforded us a lovely cool interior on very hot days, which was extremely welcome. When inside, we virtually lived in the kitchen and the sitting room next to the kitchen, as that was our usual holiday modus operandi, and although there were two other drawing rooms we could have called upon, it worked perfectly. Loads of utensils, cooking equipment, and oven/fridge/storage space enabled all our various culinary skills to come to the fore, without us having to compromise. We loved the comfy beds and the linen sheets, and the multiple bathroom facilities ensured everybody was catered for. The BBQ worked fine, although we felt a bit more could have been made of the dining out area. Needless to say, the pool was a huge hit with everyone; a perfect temperature, and as the two elder children actually learned to swim whilst there, it is guaranteed that La Sauvade and the delightful village of Aubeterre su Dronne, will stay in our memories for a long time to come. Thank you.
