The Place des Grands Hommes and its market was built in 1860 by the famous architect Charles Burguet, to provide local residents with fresh produce. In 1988, the square was renovated on the initiative of Chaban Delmas, Mayor of Bordeaux at the time.
Today the market is closed, but numerous shops, restaurants and bars enliven this district.
