Welcome to La Distillerie, luxury accommodation just 1km/0.6miles from the picturesque village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. We provide a very comfortable 7 bedroom house sleeping up to 17 guests.
Upstairs there are 5 very spacious bedrooms, each one with an en suite bathroom with a large walk in shower. Downstairs, there are a further 2 bedrooms which share a large bathroom.
The downstairs living area is all open plan with a generously equipped kitchen, living room and dining room so very sociable and great for large groups to be together. The living room looks out over the swimming pool and open fields through 4m wide sliding doors that open completely and slide into the wall creating a seamless indoor/outdoor space.
There is a large enclosed courtyard for outdoor dining with a BBQ, a cosy seating area and table tennis. This leads through to the pool area where there is a10m x 5m in ground swimming pool (open May to October) with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. During summer we are surrounded by fields of sunflowers, wheat and maize.
WiFi is available throughout the property and all areas have newly installed air-conditioning/heating units.
It is an ideal base for family holidays and for those wanting to explore the area.
The picturesque village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, which is classified as one of the prettiest villages in France, is just a short walk away. There’s lots to explore – as well as plenty of bars, restaurants, artisan workshops and gift shops, there’s the largest underground church in Europe, a bustling market on Sunday mornings and the river beach with a snack bar and children’s play area. Canoe hire is available near the beach and a trip along the river Dronne is a great way to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon spotting the local wildlife. There is a lovely 9 hole golf course just 10 minutes away and bike hire is also available locally.
Just an hour away is the outstandingly beautiful town of Saint-Emilion which was the first wine area to be awarded the title of a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the appellation for some of the worlds' greatest wines. Around 50 minutes away is Brantôme which is a great place to visit for a day out. The Abbey of Brantôme sits alongside the river which surrounds the town to form an island reached by a number of bridges. Canoe hire is available here in the summer and there's a weekly market. A similar distance away is Angouleme (with it's yearly Circuit des Ramparts event where classic & vintage cars race around the city streets) and the historic cities of Bergerac, Périgueux and Cognac. Lots to keep you busy!
During mid and high season we only take 7 night bookings (Friday-Friday) but shorter stays are available at other times. Please just enquire for specific dates.
