It is conveniently located, in a great environment, close to the quaint Bastide of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande and 20 minutes from Saint-Emilion and its famous vineyards.
Wine-lovers will adore the area, and the owner (who worked in the wine industry for 15 years & has been a tour guide for 5 years) can propose tailor made wine-tours, tastings & city visits.
Sportive guests will enjoy local marked walking trails, canoeing on the Dordogne river, horse-riding in the neighbouring village or golf in Saint-Emilion & Bergerac ... As for food-lovers, the region is fantastic with a multitude of great restaurants!!!
All of the property is open to our guests but the mill stream, mill race and mill pond are all fenced in.
Montcaret is ideally situated: the Dordogne river is just 5 mins away. 10 mins takes you to the pretty Bastide town of Ste Foy la Grande, with its bustling Saturday market. 20 mins to the beautiful world heritage town of St Emilion & its famous vineyards. 45 mins to Bergerac. Just over an hour to splendid Bordeaux. Two hours to Sarlat, the world-renowned caves of Lascaux or the Bay of Arcachon. The village & neighbourhood has all the shops, markets, restaurants & activities to make your stay complete.
Bordeaux International airport is an hour's drive away, Bergerac's airport is a little closer. There is a train service from Bordeaux's Gare St Jean via Libourne to Véline's station, which is a 15 minute walk to the Mill.
Sarah & Phil are the owners of this lovely 18th Century Mill, which they are delighted to rent to groups of friends & families. Situated in a lovely part of the Dordogne, it is also close to the splendid city of Bordeaux. As Brits who have lived in the region for 24 years, they have a wealth of knowledge to share with you, so that your holiday with us is special & memorable.
