This charming detached holiday home, built in 1750, is located in the small village of Couze-et-Saint Front in the Dordogne valley, between Bergerac and Sarlat. In the village, we have many shops: 2 bakeries, 1 grocery shop, 1 pharmacy, newspapers, 1 bar and 2 restaurants. The house is on a small street in the quiet upper part of the village. The village is listed because there are paper mills under heritage protection.
The beautifully decorated house offers 65m² of living space for four people and is completely self-contained. The living room on the ground floor, which opens directly onto the terrace, has an authentic style, with stone walls and bleached wooden beams. It has a kitchen, equipped with ceramic hob, coffee machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle and dishwasher. The wood-burning stove next to the dining area provides pleasant warmth on colder days in the low season. The dining area has a wooden table with four chairs and a sideboard for crockery. The ground floor also has a separate WC and a corner shower room (90 x 90cm) with two washbasins and a wooden cupboard underneath. The upper floor has a small private lounge with WIFI, a television with internet box giving access to a range of channels, including French and foreign channels: general interest France TV, Arte ....beaucoup de lumière, and two bedrooms. These rooms are elegantly furnished with antique furniture and whitewashed wood, harmonising with the whitewashed walls. One bedroom has a double bed (160x200cm), a wardrobe and two bedside tables, while the second has two single beds (90 x 190cm), a wardrobe and two bedside tables. A washing machine is also available.
The house has a lovely enclosed terrace. It measures 30m² and faces south-west. It has been recently renovated with old-fashioned stonework. You will be able to enjoy your meals in the open air or just relax out of sight. This is an ideal place to relax and store your bikes. You can park your car nearby in a public car park.
The house has Wifi throughout and Internet use is free. You are welcome to bring your pets Numerous VOIE VERTE VELO hiking trails start from the village and neighbouring towns. Marked circuits from Bergerac to Mauzac along the Dordogne almost car-free (electric bikes can be hired in Lalinde).
A restaurant and bakery are just a 500 metre walk away. You can shop in the small village shops, 2 bakeries, two grocery shops and a shop selling regional produce. There is also a tobacconist, a newsagent, a flower shop, two hairdressers, a post office, a chemist, bicycle hire (2 km), a hairdresser and a dentist. On Fridays, a small market is held in the town hall square. The house is at the gateway to the Périgord Noir and Périgord Pourpre regions, an ideal starting point for exploring the countryside with its castles, villages and archaeological sites. Follow the cycling trails and enjoy canoeing on the River Dordogne and a nearby lake.
