Le Moulin de Maucournet is a 19th century stone house with an 11th century water mill attached and set in gardens and woodland of approx two acre in a rural area. There is a 10 mtr x 5 mtr pool, alarmed for security, it is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the french countryside.
The house has three double en-suite bedrooms and one small bedroom with two single beds which shares one of the en-suite bathrooms, (this room is called 'the nest' and is ideal for children). On the first floor is a large landing which is used as a library.
On the ground floor is a large entrance hall leading to a lounge / diner and then through to a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge/freezer and gas/electric range cooker.A door from the lounge leads out to the garden with views to open countryside. There is a TV in the lounge with English and French free channel reception and a DVD player. There is also free WIFI in the property.
The Lot and Garonne is a rural region of South West France with vineyards and sunflower fields, undulating hills and valleys, plum and apple orchards, plains and rivers; Garonne, Lot, Dropt and just over the border into the Dordogne region is the river Dordogne.
Five minutes by car is the village of Seyches with an excellent restaurant, shop, pharmacy and bakery. A little further away are the medieval towns of Duras and Miramont where you will find restaurants, shops and tourist information.
We chose to buy the house here in Puymiclan as it is between the tourist areas of Bergerac and the Dordogne and the attractions of Bordeaux and its region to the west. Bordeaux can be reached by car in one and a half hours and the Atlantic a little further on. There is also a regular train to Bordeaux and Toulouse from Marmande.
All the towns in the region have markets on various days. Especially good is the Monday morning market in Miramont.
There are many leisure activities such as golf, horse riding, canoeing, fishing, walking and cycling. Also this year the Tour de France is coming to the Agen area on the 11th -12th July. Agen is about and hour by car.
Sue and Richard live on site in an adjoining apartment so are always on hand for any help or information guests may require. The pool is serviced daily and the gardens tended.
