Charming holiday home with panoramic views, located in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The house is spacious, full of character and has been renovated to include all modern conveniences whilst retaining its authenticity.
The house is situated in a green and relaxing setting, and yet ideally close to the lively village center and the river with its beach.
An ideal place to spend a vacation or for a relaxing getaway.
The house is built on several levels and being located in an elevated position in the village, it offers breathtaking views of the castle of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, the village and the Dronne valley. It can accommodate 8 people.
As you enter the property from the road, you are welcomed into a characterful entrance hall, full of original architectural features. From the entrance hall you enter the kitchen which has all the amenities you will need during your stay, including, among other things, a large fridge-freezer, a cooking range with six burners and two ovens, a dishwasher and an espresso coffee machine.
The kitchen opens onto a dining room with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. It is furnished with a long, convivial table where eight people can easily be seated.
From the dining room, a couple of steps lead you down into the living room, furnished with a corner sofa, a second sofa and two armchairs. From the living room, you can also enjoy a beautiful view of Aubeterre.
Leading off from the entrance hall, there is also a bedroom with a large double bed (which can be separated into two beds if necessary), a wardrobe and a sink.
Being a family home, the living spaces are decorated with artwork and personal items.
The first floor is divided into two spaces, each accessible with a separate staircase. The two spaces share a superb covered outside terrace which offers a comfortable space, ideal for having a drink, reading a book and just relaxing while enjoying the panoramic view of the surrounding area.
- From the entrance hall, you access the first space on the first floor via the main staircase. There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a good size family bathroom with a feature roll top bath, a separate shower and toilet.
- From the dining room, there is a second staircase which will leads you to the first floor, where you will find a double bedroom with a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet, as well as a second relaxing living room. It is a perfect second lounge for teenagers or two families, allowing them to have their own space. This lounge also leads onto the top covered terrace.
The living spaces continue to the lower ground-floor, where you will find a summer kitchen equipped with a stove, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and everything you would need to enjoy your meals on the outdoor terrace.
Next to the summer kitchen is a laundry area equipped with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
From the summer kitchen, you access the spacious outdoor terrace from where you access the large garden. Deckchairs and daybeds are available. There is also a large convivial table where you can eat outside at lunchtime or in the evening. A barbecue is also at your disposition.
The village and activities
The house is a stone's throw from the bustling village square, but because of its location it also offers a lot of privacy. On and around the pleasant village square there are restaurants and cafés with live music in the summer season. There are also several shops, including a butcher, a shop with local specialties that also sells great biological bread, a tobacconist that also sells 'baguettes' and antique/ ‘brocante’ shops. A small supermarket is within walking distance on the way to the river. On Sundays, there is a market in the village square.
The river with its sandy beach is a 10-minute walk away. It is an ideal place to relax, swim and spend quality time with family and friends.
For active holiday-makers, there are plenty of sporting opportunities; for example cycling, tennis courts or canoeing on the river at the leisure center in Aubeterre, golf in the 'manoir de Longeveau' in Pillac or horse riding in the stables 'Des Chênes' in Montmoreau. The Poltrot leisure center is also a place to discover.
A visit to the underground church of Aubeterre is a “must”. This church is carved into the rock and with a 20 meter high vault, it is the largest troglodyte church in Europe.
Aubeterre is also an excellent starting point for exploring the beautiful 'Périgord Vert' region with its rich history.
Visit the weekly markets in Ribérac or Chalais to buy fresh products from local producers or discover the different 'brocante' shops nearby or take a trip to the flea markets at the weekend.
Enjoy a day in Brantôme, Bergerac or Périgueux.
Beautiful Bordeaux is just over an hour away by car. There you can go shopping in one of the longest shopping streets in France, admire the architecture, take a river and relax on one of the many terraces.
The region is renowned for its gastronomic cuisine. You will find several restaurants in Aubeterre and in the surroundings to try out local specialties.

Due to the many levels and stairs, as well as the access to the lower main garden that is terraced and not fenced, the house is not suitable for wheelchair users, people (young or old) who have difficulties using stairs or children under 10 years old.
Due to allergies in our family, pets are not allowed.
A mandatory cleaning fee is charged at the time of booking and corresponds to the cleaning and preparation of the house before the arrival of guests. However, we ask our guests to leave the accommodation as they found it upon arrival.
