Charming 17th century agricultural barn with elegant local brick facade - steeped in history & carefully restored - nestled in a quiet area on the edge of a lane, in the heart of a peaceful little rural residential village nestled in the countryside on the banks of the Doubs, accessible only 500m from the gite (a real paradise for kayakers & fishing site highly renowned for its famous catfish, pike-perch or carp / remarkable ecosystem partly classified as "Zone Natura 2000", in particular for its exceptional ornithological reserve rich in 160 species and its very rare plant varieties). Nestled in the hollow of a beautiful rural and natural environment preserved from bocage & agricultural plains, Pontoux has the particularity of having possessed the last floating mill installed on the Doubs (and probably one of the very last mills of this type in France) and has a pond of 27 hectares in a protected site (located 1.5 km from the gîte), an exceptional sensitive natural area unique in Burgundy, itself also classified as a "Zone Natura 2000" (nesting of many birds with more than 130 species listed including one of the largest colonies of night herons in Saône-et-Loire) with a dedicated educational trail (to be discovered discreetly, etc.).
